The farm is currently closed to the public. Our future plans include farming experiences and farm stays/glamping.
About our Chickens
Our chickens are loved at New Life Homestead. We love their personality and individual colours. It is exciting to watch them grow. Our flock consists of Australorp and Wyandotte breed chickens. They are housed together giving us an exciting mix of the genetics, colour and temperament of both breeds.
All of our breeds are dual purpose - providing both eggs and protein. These chickens are excellent layers all year round. They mostly keep laying through winter also. Australorp and Wyandottes have an extended laying life surpassing that of commercial layers like the Isa Brown. Our favourite colour/type is the Gold Laced Wyandotte. We will be stocking Silver Laced also and the recently created/developed Quamby Chicken.
Our Chicks
At New Life Homestead, we are breeding our own chicks. They are incubated at the Homestead and then relocated to mature before being added back to the main flock.
Currently available are day old chicks - Black Australorp X Gold Laced Wyandotte. We are increasing our flock of Wyandottes and Australorps currently to strengthen our blood lines and introduce more colour options for future sale.
Check out our Shop page for more information.

Our Trio
Our trio. All of our babies this year have come from Goldy the hen. Betty the hen used to like hiding her eggs from us and being as far away from the roosters as possible.
They have been relocated to Mt Gambier in the hopes of more golden babies in the future from Mr Gold.
Future Plans
At New Life Homestead we are expanding our flock of Australorps and Wyandottes to provide our customers and community with greater variety. Currently our genetics are from the Black Australorp and Gold Laced Wyandotte.
We are adding to the flock:
Black Laced Gold Wyandotte
Blue Australorp
Splash Australorp
Before Christmas we will have hatched our Quamby flock for next season. The Quamby is a recently new Australian Chicken breed that was created/developed by Dr. Gil Stokes in Quamby, Tasmania. Again, it is a dual purpose breed and eggcellent layer; with characteristics similar to our other breeds. Our Quamby's will be housed separately and sold as pure bred chickens.
